Hi Richard; Sweetheart cherries are grown commercially in the Okanagan
Valley. They were developed at Ag Canada research station at Summerland
(zone 6)- They are early and split resistant. They are marketed commercially
both in Canada and in the Asian/Chinese market. Not sure how they will do there. Stella is also from the same breeding program. It is a good quality cherry but may not be reliable there. It suffers a lot of split in wet weather. Sweetheart is a better cultivar. Evans cherry was "introduced" from this area and is usually reliablein and around Edmonton, Alberta (zone 3b -4?). Nice quality fruit for our climate and survives most winters in sheltered areas. The tree is quite toeasy to manage. It will do great in small plantings and produces nice qualityjams/jellies, wines and cans quite nicely. Cheers Kim Maser Canadian Sources

Hello Again Shipmates;

Does anybody have any experience with Sweet Cherries Stella / Sweetheart ?
How about Tarts Balaton / Surefire / Evans?
Please launch forth your opinions.
