Stayman Starkspur Winesap. Keeps find into May in the refrigerator. Robust growth and fruiting in central Piedmont NC.
Succeptable to cedar apple rust. Delicious but grainy, sweet/sour, crisp. Chilled and put through a hand-crank meat grinder
with coarse screen it makes excellent raw apple sauce, especially good when mixed with chopped sweet dates.
