Jerry,

In this part of the world, there's a shiny black beetle that eats earthworms
and
the larva of this beetle also eats earthworms. The larva is a bit
strange-looking - black with vicious-looking mandibles. It's called the Common
Black Ground Beetle, Family Carabidae.
