- Subject: [NAFEX] Common Black Ground Beetle
- Date: Thu, 12 May 2005 21:09:42 -0700
Jerry,
In this part of the world, there's a shiny black beetle that eats earthworms
and
the larva of this beetle also eats earthworms. The larva is a bit
strange-looking - black with vicious-looking mandibles. It's called the Common
Black Ground Beetle, Family Carabidae.

: I can't put my hands on it right now, but I seem to recall reading of a
black
: worm that lives in the ground that devours earth worms. I also seem to
recall
: it is larger than what you described. It may not be native to US. May have
: read of it in the publication, Avant Gardner.
