This is an interesting thread to me - I never thought of doing
this. What do you use for potting soil?

Subject: [NAFEX] Pot size
Tom writes:Hello All,
Can anyone tell me the minimum size container (in gallons) that a fruit
tree can be grown in, that is large enough that winter freeze/thaw
cycles
are not an issue with the root system?
I assume that once you hit a certain size container, it takes too long
to
thaw, and winter protection is no longer necesarry.
Anyone know the minimum size?

My reply:
I have had a apple on M27 in a 3 gallon pot on my patio for 6 years now.
(I still have not figured where I am going to plant it - LOL!!!) I am in 4a/4b and it does just fine.
