Yes, birds are a BIG PROBLEM when growing Saskatoons in Minnesota but
there is a simple solution. The best way I know of to get a regular crop of
Saskatoons is to plant them as far away from people as possible. Did you
ever notice that birds are rare out in the woods but abundant near people?
That's because the predators, owls, hawks, etc. do not, generally, live near
people. Birds aren't dumb. They know that their chances of being eaten are
better if they stay away from where the predators live and, besides, we grow
so many goodies for them to eat.
