- Subject: [NAFEX] Planting trees when old
- Date: Wed, 16 Mar 2005 14:41:32 -0600
A friend of ours talked with a local old man who commented that only old
people planted fruit trees, young people were in too much of a hurry!
I got my arm twisted Inot that it took much!) to give the talk for the first
Cookeville Pawpaw festival (courtesy of Hidden Springs Nursery) and a
middle-aged woman complained when I said pawpaws take 4 or 5 years to crop.
I asked her if she was planning to be dead in 5 years. Everyone laughed. I
said if she wasn't PLANNING on being dead in 5 years, then it was a good
idea to plant some right now. But I like the notion of asking how old
you'll be whether you plant a tree or don't plant it. Less shocking.
