They include "Ben Davis"! in their "ark of taste". Now Ben Davis is undoubtedly worth preserving as it has many good qualities and is probably a useful breeding parent. But I've never heard anyone make a favorable comment about it's flavor.

Is there a full list somewhere? Seems to me the link just
points to new foods voted onto the ark. For example, surely
they would have selected some apples...

It's interesting to see which cultivars Slow-Food has
nominated to its
"Ark of Taste", a sort of hall of fame meaning these
connoseurs have
decided its the best.
