- Subject: [NAFEX] Lime for scab control
- Date: Sun, 05 Dec 2004 13:12:31 -0800
I read in The Apple Grower that applying lime to fallen apple leaves in the late fall will inhibit the reproduction of scab. The only problem is the book doesn't say how much to apply. I don't want to alter the pH and hurt the trees. Has anyone ever used this method to control scab? I've already raked most of the leaves up, but there are always broken leaves that escape the rake. I'm using only organic methods in the orchard. Any help would be appreciated.
