HI-
We have a patch of blackberries that have grown well this year; green, lush growth. Some of the canes are more than 6 ft tall. The problem is that the fruit (before ripening)  has dried up on most of the canes as dry black hard balls. If you press them between your fingers they become like dust and blow away.

We have had a lot of problem with the pear trees because of fire blight due to the wet and cold spring and summer -- is it a fungus?
What can I do about it? I have cut off the fruiting part of the canes with the dried up fruit.

  Thanks for the help!
