I know that apples and pears continue to ripen after picking, strawberries and
raspberries do not.
Do plums and peaches ripen after picking? Or do they just soften up?
I picked some Beauty plums last week that were 80% coloured-up and I can't
see any
change in the colouring this week.
Blueberries do colour-up after picking, usually within a couple of days at
room
temperature.
One reason I ask is that we are expecting some rain after a couple of months
without rain. This may cause the nearly ripe plums to split. If I knew they
ripened after picking, I'd pick them just before the rain starts.
