I use a mild bleach solution in with the paper and scions. It seems to take care of the mold. But I still check every month till used.
A 1:30 dilution of regular household bleach(sodium hypochlorite solution, 5%?) is usually sufficient to kill most surface mold/bacteria, without doing undue harm to plant or animal tissues.
