Haven't seen any rust on my young mayhaws yet, but have had some on a seedling quince - caused some lesions on limbs, etc. The ornamental hawthorns planted on the community college across the street from my office (don't know if they're Washington or 'Winter King') are hit hard every year - fruits are just large masses of fungal fruiting bodies.
