Last year a neighbor gave me a sack of dolgo crabs. I planted a hundred of them in the nursery patch and now have gobs of seedlings. I noticed that they leafed out ahead of any other apple I have. Would this early breaking of dormancy be imparted to the scion?
If so and, if I rootgrafted, would it still impart some of its early awakening?
I would think it might have advantage with late blooming varieties that need help ripening.
Anyone use dolgo as a rootstock?
