I found this on Cornell...

'In recent years, we have observed problems with Patriot, but have not been
able to determine the cause. We think it may be Tomato Ringspot Virus.
Symptoms resemble those of a viral infection (reduced growth and vigor, low
yields, distorted foliage, dieback) and the problem does not appear to spread
to other varieties. Now that Duke is available, it may be better to plant it
than Patriot for the early season.'

'According to Mike DeGrandchamp, from DeGrandchamp’s Nursery in Michigan,
Duke is the best early variety there is . . . "like a very early Bluecrop".
Nelson is his pick for a good late season fresh market variety. Finally, he
says Elliot is the best for the very late fresh market. They’ve been storing
it 35-40 days in Modified Atmosphere storage for October sales! '

I have Patriot, it is not very vigorous, but it is annually overtaken by N.E.
Asters, so its lack of size can easily be explained.

Personally, since it doesn't seem to spread to other varieties and you've
already invested time and money, I would
wait and see how they do. I have Earliblue, but don't have Duke. I have
Nelson and just planted Elliot this Spring.
