Title: Re: [NAFEX] Biodiversity Jack has the right idea, letting the climate select the varieties, though peaches aren't American natives.
Is there any fruit & nut explorers here that are growing purely native
species in their plantings? That sounds like a wonderful idea. I know
Jack Knight in Waukon IA has been planting thousands of persimmon, paw
paw, & peach seeds directly. He's trying to establish a
self-regenerative wild system. Last time I talked to him, I heard alot
about how many he's killed compared to what's established after 20
years, but I seem to remember that fruit & nut production was pretty
spotty.
