I checked out the Joyners Big Horse Creek link provided below,
www.bighorsecreekfarm.com . The description of one apple sounds intriguing:

Carter's Blue (aka Lady Fitzpatrick, Patton)... Flavor has been described as
"rose-water".

This is the way I describe the flavor of Flemish Beauty pear, which is one
of my favorites. I would to try growing this apple in Seattle. I don't
want a whole tree devoted to it, but one or two branches on an experimental
tree would be nice. Anyone know of a scion wood source for this variety?

The Harrisons have sold Sonoma Antique Apple Nursery to what is now Trees of
Antiquity who have moved it apparently....the fellows who are now operating
it have worked with the Harrisons and are seeking to carry on the work they
had been doing. The Harrisons were at the NAFEX annual meeting in Oregon
last year which is where I gleaned this bit. I have ordered from them all
the way to Virginia with very good results and have high hopes for the new
management.

Recent discussions here re: nurseries point out the difficulties of finding
reliable sources for the unusual and rare stock we find interesting and
valuable. I ordered from Sonoma because I could not find certain varieties
nearer by....I think that one thing we should all do is seek out vendors in
our respective backyards...we had a recent mention of Tim Hensley's article
in the Smithsonian Magazine...the discussion neglected to note several
sources in this area. In addition to Rollin Woolley's Orchard Lane, the
Joyners Big Horse Creek enterprise www.bighorsecreekfarm.com , David
Vernon's Century Farm Orchards, 1614 Rice Road, Reidsville, N.C. 27320 and
Carlos Manning, 681 Maplewood Road, Lester, West Virginia 25865 and we here
at Vintage Virginia Apples are offering offspring of the 200+ varieties that
we have collected...making a self-sustaining enterprise out of this is an
arduous endeavor and all of these artisan/entrepreneurs need support....
