Title: white bullaces
One of the advantages of having odd things planted everywhere is that you find surprises every so often.  I just found a couple of trees of white bullaces (Prunus insititia) that I planted years ago and forgot.  What's so amazing is that they still had a lot of fruit on them.  P. insititia is prized in Europe for jams, at least partly because of  the intense flavor and higher acid.  Also, they hang on the trees well into fall or winter.  Many of these had started to shrivel, but are still quite decent and can be eaten fresh, though they aren't terribly large.  Not sure if I have time or patience to make jam right now, but at least I've been able to have the fun of a new fruit, at a time and place I hadn't expected it.
