To Fluffster, Don Y and anyone else interested,
Tom and Jill Vorbeck list Blushing Golden in their latest Applesource
catalog, and they grow it in central IL. It's a good keeper and tastes
great as an out-of-hand fruit in January. This is how they list it:
Blushing Golden (+2) that means it ripens two weeks after Delicious. A
medium-sized waxy coated modern yellow apple with a pink blush. Believed to
be a Jonathan/Golden Delicious cross. Firm fleshed. Flavor similar to
Golden Delicious with an almond essence, but tarter. The "keeper" Golden.
A joy to eat in December, but, unlike Golden, not a joy to grow.
