One clue is the mention of a tree or bush.  Cydonia is grown as a tree, while Chaenomeles is usually a bush.

When discussing quince, please state whether the subject is the
European(?) quince Cydonia oblonga or one of the Oriental quinces
(Chaenomeles species - I think there are two in use). Similarly
with other groups of related species.
