I have enjoyed a rice dish for many years prepared by
Iranian friends that has little raisin-like fruit
called "Zereshk". Only recently did I discover that
these raisins are from Berberis aristata. At the
bottom of the following webpage is a reference to
this dried fruit product:
http://waynesword.palomar.edu/ecoph18.htm .
I would be interested in hearing about anyone growing
barberries in North America for fruit.
