Title: Re: [NAFEX] Storing Pits and Stones
Don't bother.  Just let them air dry well (assuming you have cleaned the flesh off reasonably well) and then stratify them in peat moss.  Peat has natural anti-fungal properties.  Any seed I've handled this way has always done fine.  The rare one that DID mold usually was a blank (empty) anyway.

Subject: [NAFEX] Storing Pits and Stones

Hello,

Should cherry pits and peach stones be sterilized in a 10% bleach solution
and dried before storage?  How long should they be sterilized?

I plan on germinating them in them in the refrigerator (moisten late
January), for April/May planting.

Also, a 10% soloution would be 9 parts water to 1 part bleach?

Thanks,
Tom
