I have some experience with the orchard scale cultivation of persimmon here
in India. I feel that this tree virtually does not require any pruning,
especially in home orchards. Only dead wood or branches very oddly placed
may be removed.
I have seen this in Japan too. The Japanese home gardeners just the trees
grow undisturbed.
One of the basic principles of home scale gardening is to adopt the simplest
technology.
