Gordon,

I thought kiwi produce fruit on current year's growth ... i.e. the vines that
grew
in the spring of 2000 produced flowers and fruit in 2000.

The reason I had such a problem with kiwi Arguta was that late frosts killed
back
the new growth and the second set of vines were not strong enough to produce
flowers and fruit.

That's how I understood the fact that my kiwi vines were eight years old and
had
only fruited one of those eight years. I deleted them and have about ten
different apple varieties cordoned in their place.

: The new growth is where the crop will be next year if there will be one.
: So don't cut out your fruit.
