Hi
Several things will cause young persimmons to drop.
One of them is what you experienced, excessive
moisture/rain. Other things are:

Too dry
Too much fertilize
Not enough fertilize

Young trees have a tendency to produce more
blooms/fruit than they can support. They will drop
the excess.
