The description of this problem seems to indicate freeze injury and generally the bark will wall itself off. And it could have occurred back in late April as a severe cold front moved through sending temps. to 22 degrees here (in late petal fall). I'd not worry about it as the tree bark will wall itself off and in a few years all that will be visable is a vertical scar line. Ed mike tomlinson wrote: Hi
