The books all say to bud Prunus (apricots, peaches, cherries, plums) in the
summer
when the temps are higher. This is especially true in the cooler northern
areas
of N Am.
With pears you have to pay attention to compatibility if you're using quince
rootstock. Some varieties of pears are not compatible with quince and you
must put
on an interstem between the quince and the pear of choice.
