Subject: Water - Rooting Cuttings
Hello All,
I need some expert advice...
When rooting cuttings (grapes, pome fruit, currants, etc),
how do you know when to add water, and when to leave them
alone?

Dear Tom
In general the professional growers never let the soil dry
out.
They use media which retains moisture while also allowing
air circulation and to prevent root rot.
Your media should contain an adequate amount of sand (ie: 1
sand to 1 soil )
In the case of humidity, you should maintain until the roots
form then gradually open the area for several days until the
humidity comes up to ambient
For some ideas take a look at
Comprehensive information on plant propagation from cuttings
can be found by starting your research at

For roses and other plants there is very useful information
at

especially on how to treat and take care of cuttings.
Even though this is a rose page the information relates well
to other plants
