As to willow water--I don't know if this alternative would work with scions,
but it works for rooting roses--an aspirin. The same ingredient in aspirin
(acetyl....can't spell it acid) is what is found in willow. I use one baby
aspirin or a low-dose adult aspirin per quart of water, and all the rose
cutting root without mist tents. I either root them in water (with aspirin)
or soak them overnight in the water and then stick them in damp potting soil
in the bottom of a large zipper lock plastic bag. This is sealed and put in
a bright area that is not in direct sun. I have 100 percent results.
For what it's worth......advice is cheap!
