I got a full set of papers describing the mite and one thing stood out - no
symptoms were described. Apparently the mite doesn't really do much damage.
At very least, it is apparently pretty well controlled by the predators of
other mites and/or regular mite control measures. There doesn't seem to be
danger of any major problem from the critter, it's more in the line of
finding out how far it has spread since it was first actually noted 10 years
ago.
