Joyce,
You don't say where you live. I'm on west coast of Canada. I'm a middleman
(middlewoman sounds strange!). I collect orders from all sorts of home
gardeners
and interested grafters and I always have the 500 rootstock minimum. I buy
rootstocks from the grower, John Traas, who ships all across the country.
If one
orders fewer than 500 rootstocks there's a 50% surcharge. The rootstocks
don't
have to be all the same kind, but the minimum order from Traas is a bundle of
50
rootstocks all one kind.
The quince, M26, MM106 and M9 (1/4"-5/16" caliper), St Julien A all cost me
just
less than $1 Cdn including GST. The P22 and M9 (5/16 and up) cost $1.10.
Anyone buying from me pays $2 including GST a rootstock if they buy fewer
than 25.
Also on the west coast, if you are a member of the BC Fruit Testers, they buy
rootstocks in bulk and sell them to their members at their AGM. The price is
usually about $1.75 to $2 including taxes
Hope you live in Canada,
Derry

: Derry,
: I'm game to buy that rootstock at that price, but I haven't seen any kind of
: rootstock for $1.00! Care to share your source?
