What is FirstNet? A nationwide initiative to offer a public safety broadband network as an alternative to current broadband networks such as Verizon and AT&T. This broadband network would support smartphones, tablets, mobile data terminals, etch. PA-FirstNet is Pennsylvania's initiative in support of a nationwide interoperable public safety broadband network. PA-Firstnet would offer dedicated access to first responders in the event of a major incident, ensuring uninterrupted broadband communications. How can you be a part of the process? PA-FirstNet needs stakeholder input to ensure that the system developed meets the needs of our first responders. They have put out surveys for agencies and individual users to complete that will allow them to complete a thorough needs assessment. You can be part of the process by completing the survey for your Agency, if you are the authorized representative, or as an individual user if you are a first responder in Pennsylvania. The deadline for completion is July 31, 2015. Tips for completing the survey - The agency survey can be intimidating, but completion is vital to ensure that EMS needs are adequately met in the PA-Firstnet Network.
