There is a strip near the barn and he sees all kinds of machines flying
over, including ultralights and para wings buzzing around. The only thing
that ever bothered him was a hot air balloon purging the burners after
landing, a loud noise he couldn’t see coming. The burner noise didn't
bother him while he could see the balloon overhead or even in a field but
when it was behind him and all that was left was the basket in the corn he
was startled.

For training horses to tolerate overhead flying things, we have used remote
controled model airplanes.  Some of them are fairly large and certainly make
a lot of noise.  The local model airplane group is always happy to fly their
planes and love to contibute to a civic cause.
