Many States throughout the USA require SAR Teams to hold non-profit status before they can be considered as a NGO (non-government organization). All teams should be aware that IRS 990 reporting requirements changed about 3 years ago.  This change will result in thousands of non-profits having their status revoked.

It your team is a non-profit NGO it may be a good idea to check the IRS Form 78 site to see if your team is current.  If your team is not on the IRS Form 78 site, you have either lost your status or will lose it in May.
