Chris,

Thanks for sharing this sad and tragic news. Such an unfortunate loss of life touches all SAR responders, as well as all members of the public safety community. My prayers and sympathy go out Christopher's family, friends and co-workers.

The ATV SAR Responder crested a very steep dune on his 4wheel ATV, lost control, and flipped it. The ambulance was following too closely/quickly to stop when they crested the hill behind him. The ambulance made impact with the upside down ATV. The crew provided immediate resuscitation aid. It's not clear at this point if the ATV accident or the ambulance impact caused the fatality.

To make this even more poignant- the SAR responder was one of their own. His 'real job' was a full time EMT with the ambulance company.
