Sorry for the confusion. The ASTM standard for Mounted Rescue is in draft format at this time. I'm about to start on draft 2 for the next ballot period. On the ASTM web site you will find completed standards, not drafts.

There is a lot more to it, but in general the assessment of the individual addresses 3 major issues:
* Can that person safely sit up
* Can that person stay in the saddle of a moving horse, unassisted (but closely monitored)
* Are there other factors to be considered, such as allergy to horses, weight of the person requiring assistance into the saddle and the physical limitations of those available to help, etc.

Other issues must also be addressed, along with various knowledge, skills and abilities needed, appropriate training for horse and rider, etc.

Hi.  I’m having problems locating this document for assessing if a person can be transported in the saddle and methods used.  Could you please direct me to it.  I checked the link and found a lot on rescue, search rescue and dogs.

Thanks
