[Deleted included prior post and HTML duplicate. Background for
MSAR-Riders subscribers: this post is in response to a comment on
MSAR-IL, the Illinois state MSAR list, concerning the date of an
MSAR training announced in Henry County, IL. -Una]
Well, Barb, don't feel bad, the major reason we will not be attending is lack
of funding, although I can think of a lot of other reasons or excuses, but
that is our primary one.
NO MONEY....
If we had the money to go to the ROLEX or whatever other (equine or other)
event, well it would be a tough call, but I think I would have to really
consider the training course! I am fair game for always expanding my
knowledge even though by my personal nature I am somewhat unstructured and
really really really hate school!!
Had this been a real call to go on a search, I would have a difficult time
explaining to some parents or family or some other loved one why I can't go
look for their kid or whomever as well, but the Rolex or some other event
would not be one of th e reasons I would not go.
I need a horse trailer that needs good rubber, brakes and a license, my
horses needs certain shots and paperwork and even though my ego tells me I do
not need a compass or a whistle to go look for someone, and even though my
horse is healthy and even though I have no problem in signing a release of
liability, and even though our tow vehicle needs an oil change and a
stinking thermostat for heat, well, without the funding, and even though we
are intelligent human beings with sense and some experience, we are dead in
the water.
NAIS puts a cramp in spontenaity, as to does a lot of regulations....
And even though some sleazeball childmolester might take a neighbors child,
had this been a real call, I hope that the sheriffs department or any other
governing party of any county in this state&nb sp;would find it in their
better graces to forgive my partner and me if we could not fill the bill in
some of these directions but still managed to get ourselves and our steed and
what feable little equipment we DO HAVE, to the search site be it somewhat
against some regulation, or speed limit.and we are perhaps not quite dressed
to the tilt like a shined up Marine. (No offense gang!)
I know the victims family would.
As for your question, WHY THIS PARTICULAR WEEKEND? I guess the victims
family would be asking us all WHY ME?

PS - I would also then donate the $20 bucks or whatever to support the
State Troopers as an affiliate, that is, if I had it....
