Any MSAR, just .like like any mounted LE unit, spends 50% of it's time on foot; inspecting whatever it finds from the saddle, and leading your horse in places where you couldn't or shouldn't take your horse . It's nearly impossible to follow a blood trail on horseback. Tracking is many times a nose-to-ground operation. Therefore, training in MSAR MUST include standard SAR ground-pounder skills.
