First new type of monkey found in 83 years

Scientists say they have discovered the first new genus of monkey in
83 years, the BBC is reporting. The African primate — Rungwecebus
kipunji — lives in two remote, high-altitude locations in Tanzania,
stands about 3 feet tall and sports a distinctive Mohawk of gray-brown
fur on its head. Adults make an unusual call described as a
"honk-bark." The BBC has audio and video of the monkey.

The discovery, first noted last year in photographs, is detailed in
the journal Science Express.
