A SQUIRREL monkey stolen from Adelaide Zoo had been found in a suburban apartment, police said today.
The animal, named Cisco and believed to be worth up to $50,000 on the black market, was stolen from the zoo early yesterday but was discovered about 6pm (CDT) yesterday, a police spokesman said.
Police had alerted customs officers around Australia about the theft of the primate, which belongs to an endangered species.
Police said the animal was recovered at a unit in Edwardstown, in Adelaide's inner south, after a tip-off from a member of the public.
A 20-year-old man had been charged in relation to the theft and would appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow, the spokesman said.
