Glenville, NY (AP) 09/23/03 -- Mickey the monkey is missing, and his
owner has put out a call for help in nabbing the elusive simian.
The black-and-white Capuchin monkey took off Sunday afternoon from
the home of Mary Malewicz in Glenville, 20 miles northwest of Albany.
Since then, he's been spotted several times by police and residents,
but he always scampers off before they can nab him.
Malewicz is even using her other monkey, Kate, to help lure Mickey
back home. She says Mickey is worth about $7,000, but she doesn't
advocate owning monkeys as pets. Malewicz takes them in as rescues.
Mickey's previous owner defanged him after he bit her, but Malewicz
says he's friendly. She suggests that anyone who spots Mickey should
grab his tail--because he'll wrap it around your arm and let you pick
him up.
