HEADLINE: Zoo officials looking for monkey on the lam

DATELINE: MANORVILLE, N.Y.

BODY:
A capuchin monkey named Coco is on the lam in Long Island, apparently unhappy with its new cage at the Animal Farm Petting Zoo.

The brown and white, foot-tall monkey was last seen Wednesday morning in Setauket, about 10 miles from the petting zoo.

Zoo Director Martin Albach said the monkey escaped around 9 p.m. Saturday after a show for handicapped children at the South Street Seaport.

Capuchin monkeys, the kind normally used to accompany organ grinders, are extremely bright, friendly and mischievous.

This is not the first time a monkey has escaped from the petting zoo. "[One] made it all the way to Shirley," Albach said. "She jumped right into some woman's car, and she brought her back here."
