Ack, sorry for the error riddled post. On one of the errors I would like to clarify that it alleviates the pressure not "elevate".

_______________________________________________Unlike deer, raccoons are not so easy to dissuade. Our farm is within the I-275 loop and thus within an urban population, even if its the fringe of it. We've actually had people asking if they could dump their have-a-heart traps on our property like putting them out here was not going to be a problem for us. Some people do not ask and simply dump them.We active target and kill raccoons. The are an intermediate carrier of Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis (EPM) . So they are not only annoying in terms of crop destruction but are a cause of concern of both food safety and equine safety. We board horses as well as farm produce so we like to keep our barns as Possum and Raccoon free as possible. In a given year we will probably eliminate 40 to 60 raccoons which seems to elevate some a good amount of the pressure. It sounds horrible, but the population is nearly as bad as the deer population. At least deer are tasty and do not go to waste. I genuinely loath having to do it but they are dangerous animals when it comes to equine and food safety issues.Richard StewartCarriage House FarmNorth Bend, OhioAn Ohio Century Farm Est. 1855(513) 967-1106You can follow us on Facebook or on Twitter @CarriageHsFmPlease consider the environment before printing this e-mail
