I have to be judicious about what I wear on any given day.  On some days, depending on what I am doing that day, I can get away with my el cheapo Crocs (sans sharp stones or other obstructions), while on others I wear my leather high top (for extra support) work shoes.  I agree that wool socks are best for wicking moisture away, although I have some old synthetic-cotton blend socks that have been around for years and are very comfortable.  If only I could remember where they came from!

Leather boots with good ankle support and wool socks to handle moisture and comfort.  No really.  :)  Smart wool rocks.

I farm and I need good protection and support.  If I wore crocks I'd be missing parts of my foot by now.
