I've had a great gas powered "G", Cub and one crappy John Deere. What I like about gas is it's less intimidating to work on- at least for me. And old gas tractors are simple, unlike any car you see. That said, I did find a diesel kubota 245 (offset) which I absolutely love. It has a three point hitch, hydraulic belly mount, clearance and it's a workhorse. I'm sure that when it comes to working on it, I'll call a relative or spend the $$ at the shop.
While the cub fit the bill, I sold it because it didn't have a three point hitch. If you don't plan on having a stable of tractors, don't underestimate the value of it.
Good Luck,
Mike
