Another question: anyone know of any small family farms which are open for
agri-tourism in the Phoenix, AZ area? My brother and his family live down
there, and two of my three young nieces (ages 10, 8 and 6yrs) have
birthdays this month. I really really hate to just send them materialistic
widgets that will be played with for three days then forgotten. I'd rather
buy them admission to something like a farm that does tours, "meet the
livestock" and "harvest the carrots" type activities. Or heck even buy
them a family-level CSA share (not sure they even know what a CSA is but it's
always a good time to do some education!). Any ideas? Thanks
again. Having no kids of our own, I feel compelled to share the farming
life with that next generation in some ease-into-it way.
