Thank you for all the ideas on how to get carrots to germinate in the heat. I used the drip tape and covered the ground with row cover on the ground When I planted them it was a nice 80 degree cloudy week. Since then it has been in the 95+ degrees. Now I have a wonderful 40 foot bed of carrots. Now about the weeds. I have spent more time than I care to mention weeding this bed in my high tunnel. As of Tuesday, it is weed free. How do you keep your carrots weed free? Are there Round Up Ready Carrots? Just Kidding! I want to plant a bunch more for winter harvesting, but I don't want to spend 1 hour for every ten feet of bed space weeding. Any good tricks? My problem weeds are Red Rooted Pig weed, Crab Grass, Foxtail, Morning Glories (not a big problem) Bind weed, Velvet Leaf and Buffalo Burr. Crab Grass is the worst! Thanks!
