Richard, if you need an 8" diameter hole, the way to go would be a machine
mounted post hole auger. If that's not an option, you might look into an
industrial powerhead, something like the Tanaka one-man earth drill. I
know Stihl and Husqvarna also make smaller earth drills and planting
drills that are would be much easier on the back than a typical 2-man post
hole gas auger. 8" is pushing the limits of a one man drill.
