Yes.  I used 10-foot locust posts with a wire across the top and twine hanging from it.  Used the clips Johnny's sells.  I like the method; was first exposed to it during an internship at the Pfeiffer Center. I would use it now except that I'm already going to be scrambling to get infrastructure in place quickly because I'm in a permitting process and haven't done a thing to the land I'll be using!  It seems like more of a hassle to get it set up than putting in t-posts for a weave, but works great once you do.  The thing is, as with any trellising, you just have to keep up with it.  Also make sure your top wire can handle the weight.

There is a gardening website that recomends installing posts and an overhead wire then tieing up the plants, like you would in a greenhouse set up.  Has anyone tried this in the field?

Gave up on cages...   Florida weave is the only way for us.  Benefits both before and afterward during cleanup.
