Thank you Kathryn for that detailed post.  While I do not agree with you I do appreciate the effort.

I had typed up a rather lengthy response to this.  Here in Ohio, as many farmers here might no meat product and dairy is indeed so heavily regulated as to have put many small scale and family owned farms out of business.  Our farm is located at the borders of Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky.  Ask me how easy it would be to get meat or dairy form our farm in Ohio to the local restaurants, 8 miles away in Kentucky?  Or what a massive headache the local vineyards have in trying to get their product outside the local region, especially across State lines.

This is probably one of the best times to become a farmer and quite literally making it more difficult.

While I think the GAP core purpose is good and most of us should be running ship shape operations for the simple idea that we want to sell healthy food I refuse to let my government control how I grow and do business and not require and inspect, ON SITE, every out of country food source to make sure it meets the same standards.

When that happens I will yield my opinion.  Till then, if I eat it, you know its safe.

Here is my opinion on Ohio's current GAP plan...
