Since you already applied borax then its safe to say that boron may not be the problem. Boron is only needed in very small amounts and there is little wiggle room whan using it. Just a pound per acre too much can stunt other crops... Bob.

I am looking for the best way to amend my soil. I can't grow a good beet and think that my soil is not only deficient in boron--as is generally the case in the area--but also in calcium. Adding borax alone did not do the trick. Does anyone have any suggestions?
